 आज के आधुनिक युग में आपको हर किसी के हाथ में मोबाइल फोन (Mobile Phone) दिख जाएगा. मोबाइल हर किसी की जरूरत बन गया है. मोबाइल के न होने पर आपको ऐसा महसूस होगा कि न जाने आपकी कौन सी चीज आपसे दूर हो गई है. इसके अलावा हम सब बचपन से देखते और सुनते आ रहे हैं कि लोग फोन करने और उठाने पर हेलो (Hello) बोलते हैं.

क्या आपने कभी सोचा है कि लोग फोन पर सबसे पहले ‘हेलो’ शब्द ही क्यों बोलते हैं? आज हम आपको बताएंगे कि फोन उठाते ही ‘हेलो’ शब्द क्यों बोला जाता है और इस शब्द की उत्पत्ति कैसे हुई?

टेलीफोन का आविष्कार

अलेक्जेंडर ग्राहम बेल (Alexandar Graham Bell) ने टेलीफोन (Telephone) का अविष्कार किया था. इसके लिए उन्होंने कड़ी मेहनत की थी. बेल को 10 मार्च 1876 को टेलीफोन का पेटेंट (Patent) हासिल हुआ था. टेलीफोन के आविष्कार के बाद बेल ने सबसे पहले अपने दोस्त वॉटसन को संदेश भेजा था.

इसमें बेल ने कहा था कि श्रीमान वॉटसन यहां आओ, मुझे तुम्हारी जरूरत है. बता दें कि टेलीफोन के जनक ग्राहम बेल फोन पर ‘हेलो’ की जगह पर Ahoy बोलते थे.

हेलो से पहले लोग बोलते थे ये शब्द

टेलीफोन के आविष्कार के बाद जब लोगों ने इसका इस्तेमाल करना शुरू किया, तो सबसे पहले पूछते थे  Are you there? इस शब्द का इस्तेमाल इसलिए किया गया ताकि उन्हें यह पता चल सके कि उनकी आवाज सामने वाले को सुनाई दे रही है या नहीं.

गलतफहमी बनी वजह

‘हेलो’ बोलने की वजह एक गलतफहमी है, दरअसल, एक बार थॉमस एडिसन (Thomas Edison) ने Ahoy शब्द को गलत सुन लिया और हेलो बोल दिया. इसके बाद उन्होंने 1877 में हैलो बोलने का प्रस्ताव रखा. पिट्सबर्ग की सेंट्रल डिस्ट्रिक्ट एंड प्रिंटिंग टेलीग्राफ कंपनी से प्रस्ताव पास होने के बाद जब उन्होंने पहली बार फोन किया तो सबसे पहले ‘हेलो’ शब्द का ही इस्तेमाल किया.

वहीं एक वजह यह भी प्रचलित है कि ग्राहम बेल की प्रेमिका का नाम हेलो था और उन्होंने फोन उठाते ही सबसे पहले उनका नाम लिया था.

आज जो पूरी दुनिया फोन उठाते ही सबसे पहले ‘हेलो’ बोलती है, यह थॉमस एडिसन की ही देन है. बता दें कि हेलो पुराने जर्मन शब्द हाला से बना है. यह शब्द पुराने फ्रांसीसी या जर्मन शब्द ‘होला’ से आया है. 'होला' का मतलब होता है- ‘कैसे हो’. अब तो आप समझ ही गए होंगे कि हर कोई फोन उठाते ही सबसे पहले हेलो क्यों बोलता है.
